well like
I really don’t know how much of it is true because I’m incredibly lazy
but like here’s how I always thought it out to be:
You’ve got this guy or girl or whatever and they’re living their life and all is really cool and chill and all but then they notice that they put on a little extra weight.
Then and there, they immediately start looking to mediate the mediation, and that comes down to looking at their current diet. “Oh, look that’s where things are going wrong, I’ll try to eat healthier and replace more things with diet options!“
Instead of fries, I’ll get a salad.
Instead of chips, I’ll get some yogurt.
Instead of cola, I’ll get diet cola.
So like, they’re not losing a good proper amount of weight from just switching out diets, so they might take up exercising or something.
I’m talking way too much, but if I was the one in charge here (combined with the fact that I’m a total jerk), I would fill Diet Coke with all these chemicals that you wouldn’t be able to pronounce that would actually make the product more addictive, but still adding no health benefits, in turn keeping the metabolism working at the same stinted rate.
It has no calories and no sugar and no fat, so it can’t be the problem, right?
So there, more and more things would change about our humble protagonist’s diet, never actually thinking that it might actually be sustaining the problem.
The company tells this master plan across the board, because it benefits their product BEAUTIFULLY! No matter what changes in the consumer’s diet, they will keep coming back to their product because there’s no reason to believe the product isn’t helping because we’re so concerned with zero. Zero calories, Zero fat, Zero sugars.
I’m not condoning an excess of any of that is good, but the other extreme might just be as bad.
…
But then again, I’m not a nutritionist, I’m not a physician, and I’m not a doctor. None of these things I say hold any merit unsourced, I just think that if I was in charge it’d be pretty easy to game people, and I love theorising and writing concepts…
But then again, I’m a huge jerk.
And there are people that actually really like Diet stuffs for the taste, and that’s cool too.
