Equestria Girls?

Watched the trailer just now. My thoughts? I’m have no strong feelings either way. It’s looking better with actual motion, looks like it’ll have some of the charm the original ponies have, and will likely have honestly funny moments.

That being said however, it’s looking like a rehash of S1E1 with a done-to-death popularity contest thrown in that 98% of highschool-themed movies have. I cannot shake how sickly thin EVERYBODY is and how a lot of characters have human skin tones while the rest have a palette of pastels. And Spike is a fucking dog.

It can still be good in its own right, it will most likely be better than the average “little girl’s movie”, but I’m not holding my breath or having my expectations go all that high.

At least I’m almost convinced that it won’t irredeemably terrible. It’s a little relieving.

But please for the love of all that is fair and just not have the original show reference this movie or otherwise accept it as canon. Let’s keep everything that happens in EqG - even when the characters are still ponies - in a separate continuity from FiM. It’ll save a shitstorm.
