Traditional bitchy angst. Don’t bother reading. This is more or less a personal note of what today is for future reference.
Welcome to University at College Place Avenue. Where all your dreams will come true, little 15. This school is everything you wanted it to be, so why aren’t you excited?
“Oh, don’t worry. It’ll be better than High School. Trust us.”
Oh boy. Was little 15 happy when he saw everything University had to offer. 15 wants to work in Digital Audio. Oh boy, look at all the equipment they–
AUDIO PROGRAM DISSOLVED. MERGED WITH DIGITAL VIDEO.
Hence DV/A. Why?
Well, Video is essentially both Audio and Video, so if we teach them solely video, they’ll also learn Audio!
No. No, we won’t. But that’s okay! Little 15 was really the only one who wanted to have audio courses anyway. They won’t just specifically cater to 15, that would be silly!
Well, aside from an asshole roommate, followed by a reclusive roommate, followed by a dominating roommate, 15 was having the time of his life. 15 learned a lot in his new-found major of Digital Video, even if 15 never really cared for it.
15 learned the three major rules of script writing. 15 is okay.
15 had university fuck him with his grades. 15 is okay.
15 had watched the equipment manager get fired, all our broken equipment will remain broken. 15 is okay.
15 watched the university fire nearly half the staff. 15 is okay.
15 watched the university purchase a prototype microsoft surface which serves literally one purpose, to look cool, with the money saved from firing everyone. 15 is okay.
15 learned of the major film fan fiction that was going to be directed and produced by the starchild of the major. 15 is okay.
15 watched the school spend a decent amount of money to get the lead voice actor from the work that the fan fiction is based off of to play the lead role. 15 is impressed.
15 watched the people toil over the film to fit the director’s for the next several months. 15 is okay.
15 watched the finished product. It proceeded to go against not only the three major rules of script writing, but against everything that the school itself supposedly stands for. 15 was not okay.
Defining success solely by who is sponsoring you, not the amount of effort you put in. Well, 15 knew that to begin with. 15 just wasn’t prepared for the university literally showing him this lesson.
15 is not motivated.
Now, why doesn’t 15 just give up now? Or possibly transfer out?
15 has 108 credits after this semester. 120 to graduate. Transferring out would leave him only 33 credits. 15 would have to redo two years of college.
15 fills the void of motivation with materials. This doesn’t aid 15 in anyway, but provides more incentive to not work on anything productive.
So what should 15 do?
Stop being a bitch and power through it.
The college doesn’t want 15 to succeed, as they told 15 this college track would not help him experience a worthwhile experience.
The college truly wants more of 15’s money, but he had already given +$100k.
15 has one and a half semesters to go, assuming he doesn’t fail one of his six courses, his 150 hour internship, or his major video game project that he is scoring.
Life sucks when you are 15 in college.
Yeah, I know how lucky I am, and I don’t have a right to complain at all. I told you not to read this.
