That whole PPG episode honestly just reminds me of the older brother I came out to who started sending me pictures of an older trans woman he knew and telling me how she’d lost her family and her job and everything she ever had, and was some kind of sex obsessed broken wreck who was treated like a freak everywhere she went, before going on to tell me that he loved me and accepted me as trans, but wanted me to stop and consider that I could just be a really feminine man before I “did anything drastic” and “ruined” my own life, and then going on further to reassure me that it would just mean a lifetime of ingrown hairs and loneliness and never looking like a “real” woman, and getting old and even uglier and more “manly” looking, and then tried to act like he was being supportive.

It’s like “Oh, ok you’re ‘transgender,’ ok sweetie, but like, have you ever stopped to consider that maybe you’re not, and you’re just confused, and trying to cave to what society says you have to be because of the gender binary, and that you’re not really transgender at all? Cause transgender people are ugly psycho freaks, and it’s totally okay to wear whatever you want without having to go get a sex change or anything to justify it.”

Funny how to so many “supportive” cis people, what’s on the inside is all that counts until we feel like changing anything about the outside to feel comfortable.

“Oh, cool, you’re a girl on the inside, and I accept that, but please don’t try to be a girl on the outside, cause you’re not really a girl.”

Just… I’m so fucking sick of cis people trying to talk about our issues. WE are the only one’s who have that right. And if you’re not going to let us, and it’s going to come down to a choice between the kind of bullshit we’re getting from you now, and no visibility at all, I’d honestly prefer no visibility.

Either put us in charge of our own narratives, or kindly shut the fuck up.

I miss the days when cis people who wanted to be supportive knew they were positively clueless. I could actually talk to them and they would actually listen to me, like I was an actual authority on being trans.

Nowadays? Nope.

Cis people these days have all seen PPG or Transparent or whatever Katlyn Jenner vomited out this week and they all think they’re some kind of goddamn expert.

At least in the ‘bad old days’ the crap that cis people brought to the table could clearly be pointed out to be blatantly bigoted. Now I have to deal with cis people ‘splaining to me that I’m just a deranged radical feminist and that my views don’t represent ~mainstream trans culture.~

That’s where you get creeps like that one you wrote about. They sit around and they think they’re incredibly ~informed~ and understanding of what we go through. They ~accept~ us, but think they know our lives enough to terrorize a vulnerable trans egg into staying in the closet.
