Did you know I can only think of four things at a time? Right now I'm thinking about the number 77, time signature metered time signatures, cute anime characters, and a haircut.

No seriously, feel free to talk to me for whatever reason. Askbox is always open as well as Skype.

say it with me, kids

they/them is a valid gender-neutral singular pronoun

this has nothing to do with the gender binary/etc

it’s just fucking correct English

????? they/them is plural, not singular.

try both,…

Wow. Just wow. Good try. But again, what is acceptable in common speech/slang doesn’t cut it.

um like isn’t the idea of language itself “what is acceptable in common speech”?

Heh…

I’d really like to see some nice sources that definitively consider the word “they” not an acceptable use as a singular genderless pronoun, if you wouldn’t mind…

See college board.

I’m pretty sure you’re the one making the counter-argument, I’d like to see more than just a textless reference somewhere.

Maybe a link to an article or an academic thesis regarding your point?

sharkthemepark:

From The Telegraph:

“The first of use of "them” for “him or her” is a rather later 1742 (“Little did I think… to make a… complaint against a Person very dear to you,… but dont let them be so proud… as to make them not care how they affront everybody else”, from Samuel Richardson’s Pamela, or, Virtue Rewarded). “Themselves” goes all the way back to 1464 (“Inheritements, of which any of the seid persones… was seised by theym self, or joyntly with other”, from the Parliamentary rolls). And “their”, Allan’s particular dislike, was recorded at an unknown year in the 1300s (“Bath ware made sun and mon, Aiþer wit þer ouen light”, from Cursor Mundi).“

I don’t have time for this. Your ignorance isn’t my problem.

I concede on the basis of “it’s fucking 1am IDGAF”.

I am actively trying not to be ignorant and I’m (within reason I presume) asking for academic sources so that I can with gusto have a firm understanding of your point.

I can’t already have your knowledge confirmed on its own, such an idea would be ignorant in its own right, wouldn’t it? To automatically assume you are correct with just a few uncited words?

You speak from knowledge of multiple academic fields, surely you must be aware that if you write a thesis without amply citing your research your work might be considered invalid?

Don’t worry if you’re tired or actively DGAF, I just wanted to firmly know the knowledge you knew. If you care to pick this up in the morning, I’ll happily oblige! I do love learning new things if you are willing…

And to my followers:

I’m sorry for picking up this little talk if this isn’t the thing you care to see on your dashboard. lol1759 just might know something I don’t about one of the more subtle intricacies of the English language, and I’d be curious to learn from them if they are willing.

Sorry cat keyboard

And I’m trying to learn Cruel Angel’s Thesis on Cat Piano first.

That’s priority zero.

#solarbird

I have a fantastic idea. Play "Asturias" on piano keyboard.
liquidsodanium

I’ll have to figure out what that song is first!

If I get into a hardcore band and become super famous years down the line I will HAPPILY and EAGERLY play my old pony music.

Because my music isn’t pony.

I will never change my music to be less “pony”

Because my music isn’t pony.

My music is about characters. Stories. Written precisely to invoke emotions.

If you feel bad about any of the characters in my works, it’s not because they’re ponies.

It’s because I worked damn hard to make them real.

That transcends the label of “pony”.

So, again…

I will never flip the fuck out and take down everything pony related.

I will never regret or remorse for what I’ve written and composed.

This music is not pony related.

what is storm acctr?
apotheosic

next splint project after Destiny. I’m hoping to have it done by the end of March

woo I’m uploading a raw cut of a movement in STORM ACTOR before a destiny promo video WOOO

Also, sonatina is one of the cutest words.

interesting though (and not to contradict your experience), the literature says trans people develop brain structures of their identified gender maybe it’s the life experience of being assigned female at birth that’s attractive? idk

like hella

okay so like

What I find incredibly fascinating, and therefore attractive, are people, things, ideas that I haven’t or will not be able to experience. I absolutely love people with entirely different backstories and I absolutely love to listen in. I find fascination where I can essentially live vicariously through someone else and find an entirely new perspective.

It’s why I took a bunch of psychology classes in academia, I find the human mind utterly fascinating, and in certain cases, attractive.
