I’m genuinely confused- was the overwhelming consensus really that the finale was good? I don’t get that.

I’ve received a few disgruntled asks about the finale. I didn’t realize I was being a contrarian. I thought it was about as good as the S3 opener.

But do you remember the S1 finale. THAT’S how you knock it out of the park and close the Season. Tell an engaging story about the entire cast, and focus on their characters. We don’t need another big bad.

I think it had a bunch of great elements, but elements a story doesn’t make.

It paced through various scenes so quickly that our epic battle was just… A battle. Because they limited violent depictions, it was sorta epic (but nothing incredible) as it was only equal.

There were so many more moments to focus on besides secondary characters that should have been able to happen within two episodes. It fell short, despite being entertaining. I did lose focus for a bit here and there.

I would feel better about Equestria Girls if they tied in better plots around it. Rainbow Rocks can’t be good just because of the music alone. Daniel Ingram isn’t My Little Pony - he is incredible, but I watch the show because of the writers and the elements that support their stories. Otherwise, they’re just throwing good things at a project and hoping it falls into place.

Editing drafts, storyboard material and post production has to be killing so much of their efforts. Focusing on simplicity would benefit their endeavors.
