When I was about 14 years old and in school in the UK, there was a playground fad going on around the guys referred to as 'bell tapping'. It basically involved punching someone in the dick when they're not expecting it. One day, I was caught off guard by a 6'2" guy named Jamal while we were all stood in a group talking. By some divine intervention, I was able to completely internalise the pain and act like nothing happened. People thought I had iron balls, and so I was never targeted again.

one time in middle school the girl i was going out with and i loved more than anything asked me if i loved her and, being the irrational idiot i am, i of course said no, of course not, we're just great friends and ruined our relationship literally forever. and i shouldnt care because it was middle school but i still care.

Anon, love, what they don’t tell you is that you don’t get over the times in middle school. I still remember every failed social interaction from middle school onward. The closer to heart the longer lasts the burn. Use it. In either some creative or artistic regard or as a cautious reminder how much things will matter to you years after they pass.
